Estonia: New US, UK troops due to arrive soon

The US will deploy a new rotational unit of troops in Estonia in summer 2026, Estonian Defence Minister Hanno Pevkur announced, ERR reported. The unit will stay until the end of 2026, ERR reports. Also, Pevkur said that the US would resume deliveries of ammunition to Estonia “in the coming months,” ERR reported. Pevkur said that the long-term presence of US troops in Estonia would depend on a six-month force review that the US Department of Defence was conducting. Rotational US troops have been stationed in Estonia under a bilateral agreement since 2022. Currently, the US has less than 100 troops in the country. Meanwhile, the UK will deploy an additional 300 troops to Estonia in April 2027, ERR reports. The new contingent will increase the British military presence in the country to around 1,200 troops.
