Estonia’s non-parliamentary opposition party, Right-Wingers, has re-elected Lavly Perling as its chairwoman, ERR reported. She was the only candidate to the post. In her acceptance speech, Perling said that “painful decisions” were needed for Estonia not to lose the right to make decisions over its state finances. She insisted that state spending be frozen and called for cutting both the VAT and income tax. MP Kalev Stoicescu, who earlier resigned from the junior coalition party, Estonia 200, may join Right-Wingers as the party’s first MP.
Meanwhile, support for Right-Wingers stood at 5.4% in July 2026, which was down from 6.6% a month earlier, according to a Norstat poll for the Institute for Societal Research, ERR reported. Based on the poll, the party would win 5 seats in parliament. Altogether 11% of voters would like Perling to become prime minister, which was up from 9% in June 2026, ERR reported. In Emor’s poll, support for Right-Wingers stood at 7% in July 2026, which was down from 9% in June 2026, ERR reported. Including undecided voters, the party’s support was 5.1%.
