Latvia had a total of 64,900 unemployed people in August 2024, which was 3,500 more than in the same period of 2023, according to the Central Statistical Bureau (CSP), LETA reports. Compared to July 2024, the number of unemployed rose by 100 people. Latvia’s actual unemployment rate stood at 6.8% in August 2024, which was up 0.4 percentage points over a year. The level of unemployment among men remained unchanged at 8.2% and among women at 5.4%. Meanwhile, the registered unemployment rate amounted to 5.3% of the economically active population, which was down 0.2 percentage points over a year but up 0.1 points over a month.
