Latvia’s national air carrier, airBaltic, suffered a loss of EUR 70.1mn in the first quarter of 2026, which was 2.4 times more than in the first quarter of 2025, when the company’s loss stood at EUR 29.348mn, LETA reported. The airline’s quarterly EBITDAR amounted to EUR 7mn, which was up from a loss of EUR 4.3mn a year earlier. The aviation group’s revenue totalled EUR 149.1mn, which was up 12.3% from EUR 132.719mn. The airline carried a total of 1.5 million passengers in the first quarter of 2026, which was 10.9% more than in the same period a year earlier. The total number of flights operated was 15,100, which was 11.3% more than in the first three months of 2025. The average passenger load factor on airBaltic’s flights was 74.8% in the first quarter of 2026, which was down 1.1 percentage points over a year.
