Latvia: Bank profits down 23% on year in January-October 2024

Latvian monetary financial institutions (MFIs), mainly banks, generated total profits of EUR 461.7mn in the first ten months of 2024, which was down 22.6% from EUR 596.2mn in the same period of 2023, according to data from the Bank of Latvia, LETA reports. The total assets of MFIs amounted to EUR 29.23bn at the end of October 2024, which was up 8% from EUR 27.066bn a year earlier. Loans granted to residents totalled EUR 14.254bn, which was up 4.1% over a year. Deposits totalled EUR 18.876bn, which was up 7.9% from the end of October 2023.
