The Latvian parliament, the Saeima, has approved in final reading amendments that will allow Lithuania, Estonia, and Finland to store strategic gas reserves at the underground gas storage facility in Incukalns, LSM reports. The three Baltic States have earlier signed solidarity agreements on gas supplies. The amendments will also free the operator of the Incukalns facility, Conexus Baltic Grid, from regulatory tariffs set by the Public Utilities Commission (SPRK) as of 1 May 2026. The operator will hold an auction of storage capacity and fees for storage services. Conexus expects to auction 8 TWh of total storage capacity at the facility. Currently, 25-30% of the storage facility’s capacity is used for local gas consumption, which is on the decline.
