Latvia will deploy more air defence systems to its eastern border, Defence Minister Raivis Melnis announced, LETA reported. Speaking during a meeting with local government leaders, Melnis said that the deployment would include drones, radars, and interception systems, LSM reported. He thanked Ukraine for providing necessary help. Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs said that new counter-drone systems would become operational on the borders with Belarus and Russia in July or August 2026, DELFI reported. Also, he announced that Latvia would build a joint drone production facility with Ukraine near the Russian border. Earlier, Latvia signed an agreement to establish a joint digital drone and anti-drone acquisition platform with the United States, LSM reported.
