The number of job vacancies in Latvia was 23,900 in the second quarter of 2024, which was 1,400 (5.6%) fewer than in the same period of 2023, according to data from the Central Statistical Bureau (CSP), LETA reports. The number of vacancies amounted to 12,800 in the private sector (down 10.7%) and to 11,100 in the public sector (up 1.1%). The share of vacancies was 2.6% of all occupied and vacant jobs, including 3.7% in the public sector and 2.1% in the private sector. The highest share of vacancies was in public administration (7.6%), in transport and storage (3.3%), and in information and communication services (3.0%). The share of vacancies was 3.3% in Riga, 1.5% in Zemgale, 1.3% in Latgale, 1.1% in Vidzeme, and 1.0% in Kurzeme.
