Renewable energy accounted for 73% of the total volume of electricity generated in Latvia in 2024, according to provisional data from the Central Statistical Bureau (CSP), LSM reports. The volume of electricity produced from renewable sources totalled 4,643 GWh in 2024. Hydro, wind, and solar power plants generated a total of 4,022 GWh of electricity in 2024, which was down 6.5% from 2023. Electricity generated from hydro power amounted to 3,210 GWh (down 15.4%), from solar power to 536 GWh (up 2.2 times), and from wind power to 276 GWh (unchanged). Combined heat and power plants generated another 621.3 GWh of electricity from renewable energy sources in 2024.
