Freedom Party MP Vytautas Mitalas┬ásaid that the Lithuanian delegation would be the first to meet with Taiwan’s newly elected president, William Lai. Mitalas noted that the visit would help bring Lithuania and Taiwan closer. Meanwhile, MP Jonas Jarutis of the opposition Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union (LVZS) objected to the visit, arguing that it contradicted Lithuania’s support for the so-called One China policy.
