Lithuania’s incoming centre-left government has revealed its draft programme for the next four years, LRT reports. The new coalition plans to focus on welfare, with more child benefits and better accessibility to health care and education. Also, the government may make changes to tax policy, moving towards progressive taxation. The new government plans to reverse the outgoing government’s full liberalisation of the electricity market, allowing vulnerable households to return to the public electricity supplier. Moreover, Lithuania will seek to become carbon neutral before the 2050 EU deadline. The government plans to appoint officials to oversee large-scale investment projects and establish a special fund to repair roads and bridges. Also, the government will review labour laws, making it easier for trade unions to strike.
