Lithuania: PM rejects calls to test parliamentary support

Lithuanian Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas has refused to subject himself to a vote of confidence in the parliament, the Seimas, BNS reports. Opposition MPs have demanded that the Prime Minister resign due to questions about his past business activities. Speaking after a “frank and sincere conversation” with President Gitanas Nauseda, Paluckas insisted that he continued to enjoy parliamentary support and that his coalition government remained united. He argued that the questions about his business dealings were “speculation and insinuations.” The opposition has cited a media report on Paluckas’s previous business transactions with businessman Darijus Vilcinskas. The Prime Minister dismissed the investigation, comparing the reporting to “something between OnlyFans and telephone fraud,” LRT reported.
