Estonia’s national transmission system operator, Elering, has postponed plans to build a fourth electricity interconnection with Latvia until after 2038, which was the project’s original completion date, ERR reports. Earlier, Elering postponed a decision on the construction of a third undersea electricity connection to Finland. Reigo Kebja, board member at Elering, said that final investment decisions on the new power connections with both Finland and Latvia would be made in 2030-2033. Meanwhile, Elering is considering the possible construction of a new gas pipeline to Latvia, ERR reports. The company expects to complete preliminary studies on the project by the end of 2026. The pipeline would cost around EUR 50mn.
