Estonian capital Tallinn’s four-party coalition government is likely to continue for the time being, ERR reports. The Estonian Reform Party’s regional branch in Tallinn decided not to vote in favour of ousting incumbent mayor Jevgeni Ossinovski of the Social Democratic Party (SDE). Reform demands that the city council abolish kindergarten fees and approve a supplementary budget, however. Reform and SDE will need support from the opposition, given that junior coalition partner Estonia 200 opposes removing the kindergarten fees, ERR reported. Earlier, Reform sought to form a new coalition with the Estonian Centre Party (Keskerakond). The plan fell through, and Ossinovski proposed that Reform return to the ruling coalition. Meanwhile, Centre Party leader Mihhail Kõlvart characterised the power struggle in Tallinn as a “municipal circus,” ERR reported. Going forward, Kõlvart did not rule out negotiations with any party, but would refuse talks with Ossinovski at the table.
