Estonian capital Tallinn’s mayor, Jevgeni Ossinovski of the Social Democratic Party (SDE), survived a vote of no confidence in the city council on 8 July 2025, ERR reported. The motion received 33 votes out of 40 needed to oust the mayor. Members of the city’s four-party ruling coalition did not take part in the extraordinary city council meeting. Earlier, the Estonian Reform Party decided to back down from its plan to form a new coalition with the Estonian Centre Party (Keskerakond). Looking ahead, Ossinovski told ERR that the outcome of the local elections in October 2025 would determine whether he stays on as mayor or Centre Party leader Mihhail Kõlvart returns to power in Tallinn. Meanwhile, the Centre Party’s support stands highest at 37% among voters in Tallinn, according to Norstat’s poll in June-July 2025, ERR reported. Fatherland (Isamaa) comes in second with 17.5%, followed by Reform with 14.7%, SDE with 14.5%, and the Conservative People’s Party of Estonia (EKRE) with 7.9%.
