Estonia: Ukraine to remain number one foreign policy priority: official

Ukraine will remain the number one priority of Estonia’s foreign policy for as long as the war continues, Jonatan Vseviov, secretary general of Estonia’s Foreign Ministry, said, ERR reports. If Ukraine manages to survive winter 2024-2025, then spring-summer 2025 could be easier, he suggested. Estonia will never accept changes to European borders through military aggression, Vseviov vowed. The West must show “self-confidence” and “staying power” and avoid “180-degree [policy] shifts” when governments change, he insisted, pointing out that the West “far outweighs” Russia’s economic, military, and political power. At the same time, pushing back against aggression requires engagement with both like-minded and “not yet like-minded” countries, Vseviov noted. “Keep calm and carry on,” he concluded.
