Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda called for a quick review of restrictions on the export of dual-use goods, BNS reports. Earlier, Economy Minister Lukas Savickas proposed relaxing the restrictions urgently. The previous government banned the export by air of several goods that Russia could use in its war against Ukraine to most third countries. Speaking in an interview with TV3, Nauseda insisted that both the group of goods and the geographic scope of the restrictions were unreasonable, noting that the ban applied to export markets of Lithuanian businesses. Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas called the restrictions “illogical, irrational,” and “stupid,” saying that the government would shift the responsibility for sanctions compliance to the exporters, BNS reported. He said that the government would consult Ukraine on whether Russia was using Lithuanian goods in the war. Vidmantas Janulevicius, president of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists (LPK), noted that most of Lithuanian exports to third countries were re-exports, not exports of Lithuanian goods.
