Three members of the Lithuanian parliament, the Seimas, have submitted a draft resolution to recognise Palestinian statehood, BNS reports. The resolution was submitted by two MPs from the far-right populist party, Dawn of Nemunas (PPNA), Petras Dargis and Karolis Neimantas, and MP Rimas Jonas Jankunas of the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union (LVZS). Both parties are part of Lithuania’s current coalition government. The draft resolution urges President Gitanas Nauseda and the government to propose that the parliament recognise Palestine as an independent state under the 1967 borders. Also, the resolution calls for the enforcement of International Criminal Court arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant. Meanwhile, Israel has deported a Lithuanian activist, Aleksandras Chichlovskis, who was detained while travelling with the Global Sumud Flotilla heading to the Gaza Strip, BNS reports. Several human rights organisations in Lithuania urged political leaders to support Chichlovskis and the flotilla.
