Latvian banks reported combined profits of EUR 181.2mn in the first half of 2026, which was down 9.3% from EUR 199.7mn in the same period of 2025, according to data from the Bank of Latvia, LETA reports. The total assets of Latvia’s monetary financial institutions amounted to EUR 32.675bn at the end of June 2026, which was up 10.5% from EUR 29.583bn a year earlier. Outstanding loans issued to Latvian residents amounted to EUR 16.67bn (up 13.4%), including nearly EUR 7.2bn to households (up 10.6%) and EUR 7.2bn to corporate clients (up 14.4%), LETA reported. Resident deposits totalled EUR 21.862bn (up 11.2%), including EUR 12.6bn of household deposits (up 8%) and EUR 8.3bn of corporate deposits (up 17.7%).
