Latvia’s prime ministerial nominee, MP Andris Kulbergs of the opposition United List, will seek to put together as broad a coalition government as possible, LETA reports. Speaking in an interview with TV3, Kulbergs suggested forming a coalition of all five political groups in the current parliament, the Saeima, except the populist Latvia First (LPV). He proposed setting aside ideological and controversial issues for now, saying that they could be resolved after the parliamentary elections in October 2026. Kulbergs pledged that United List would put aside any previous political grievances between parties. He declined to discuss the distribution of ministerial portfolios between parties, but said that United List would seek to lead the Finance Ministry. Speaking on LTV, Kulbergs said that he was ready to choose independent ministerial candidates for some areas of responsibility, LSM reported.
