Georgia’s new parliament is not entirely legitimate, Asta Skaisgiryte, chief foreign policy adviser to Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda, stated, LRT reports. If the parliament elects a new president, then the legitimacy of the president would be under question as well, she noted. Speaking in an interview with LNK, Skaisgiryte announced that Lithuania would offer refuge to Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili if she had to flee the country, BNS reported. Presidential adviser Kestutis Budrys, who has been nominated for foreign minister, said that President Nauseda would discuss the situation in Georgia and sanctions against Georgian officials with his Baltic and Polish counterparts, BNS reported. Meanwhile, around 200 people, including several leading politicians, took part in a rally outside the Georgian embassy in Vilnius in support of people in Georgia protesting against the government’s decision to suspend the country’s EU membership process.
