Nordic and Baltic foreign ministers condemned Russian threats to attack the Baltic States amid Ukrainian drone strikes, Reuters reported. Earlier, Russia claimed that Ukraine was using NATO airspace as cover for drone attacks on Russian targets. In a joint statement, the NB8 foreign ministers rejected “Russia’s blatant disinformation campaign and false claims, supported by Belarus, following airspace violations in the Nordic-Baltic region.” They said that the incidents involving drones entering NATO airspace were a direct consequence of Russia’s illegal war of aggression against Ukraine, and that Russia was trying to divert attention from its illegal war and intimidate NATO allies. The ministers stressed that Ukraine had the right to defend itself.
